If you have been around the photography scene for a while or have been looking for a photographer for your session, you might have noticed the saying "lifestyle session" in the list of sessions that a photographer offers. But what exactly does lifestyle photography mean? Well let's break it down!
Lifestyle photography is essentially a photography session where the subject is doing typical "day to day" activities in a casual environment. These sessions are meant to give an authentic and documentary feel to the session. I like to say that these are a little slice of life in photos, and a great way to spice up a session from the posed pictures! These sessions are mostly done with family or couples but lifestyle shoots are for everyone and every occasion.
Here are some ideas for your next lifestyle photo session:
- Date night at a local restaurant: Whether its a pizza joint, ice cream parlor or your favorite bar/ coffee shop, this is a great way to show off your personality and incorporate something fun and new into your date night!
- In home session: This is great for families or couples that want to document the simple joys of life! You can cook breakfast, garden, read, swim, have a family dinner, or play in the backyard.
- Picnic in the park: Even if this isn't something you do every day, this is such a cute idea for a family, couple, group of friends, or just by yourself!
- In the book store/ antique store: This is such a fun idea especially for my people who love to read and thrift! Not only does this show your personality, put you can grab a coffee, look around, and shop while getting the most aesthetic pictures.
- Grocery shopping/ doing laundry: This one is super out of the box but would make some bomb pictures! If you see the vision then you get it.
